Intermediate first aid, also referred to ask standard first aid, is a two day comprehensive course that includes significantly more first aid topics when compared to basic first aid. Basic first aid, also referred to as emergency first aid is a one day course that has fewer first aid topics. However, both courses include CPR and AED training and participants can also receive BLS certification alongside the first aid classes.
The three CPR level’s vary in course length and the victims age the rescue must manage. CPR level A is for adult and child victims only. This is popular with basic first aid. CPR level C is for victims of all ages. Basic life support (BLS), also known as CPR HCP, is for victims of all ages but with additional training with the use of bag valve masks, trained back up and pulse checks.
Immediately upon successful completion of the course participants will receive an OH&S and CSA approved St Mark James Training certificate that is valid for 3 years. St Mark James Training provides training to over 40,000 participants every year in Canada and is one of the largest providers in Canada.

If you lose your certificate and you received it through St Mark James Training then we will be able to help get you a new one. However, there is a 25 dollar cost to replace your lost award.
Unfortunately, if you show up late to your course or have to leave early you will not successfully complete the course. 100 percent attendance is required to successfully complete the course.
Yes, when you take a intermediate or basic first aid course you will be required to take a multiple choice test with up to 50 questions. Participants are required to receive a minimum score of 75% to pass the course.
Yes, Over 98% percent of participants successfully complete the course on the first attempt. Don’t stress, we have great teachers to make sure you learn everything you need to know to be a life saver!
When you take a course with any St Mark James Provider, such as Lethbridge First Aid, you will be able to retake the course one time, free of charge, if you attend 100% of the course the first time and do not complete it.
