Will I have to touch someone in a first aid or CPR course?

Yes, although you can wear personal protective equipment, you will have to touch someone else in order to successfully complete the course. You can request to your instructor to only touch a specific sex or individual and the instructor will likely accommodate you. However, in the real world, if required by your workplace or school, you will have to help regardless of the persons orientation.

Will I be in a class with other people getting certified for other awards?

Yes, you will be in the course with other people receiving awards for other courses. For example, if you are taking intermediate first aid, which includes CPR level C, you will be in a class with potentially other people receive just CPR level “C” certification.

Do I just need to pass the exam to pass the course?

No, to successfully complete any first aid and CPR course the participants must not only complete the written exam but also a skills component. This is why participants can’t just come in and challenge an exam.

Do we have a fridge in the classroom?

Yes, all St Mark James Training classrooms are required to have a mini fridge in the classroom for everybody’s lunch or snack. We do also teach food safe courses so we understand the importance of keeping your food outside of the danger zone temperature.

Do we have a microwave in the classroom?

Yes, all St Mark James Training classrooms have microwaves so that you can reheat your food!

Do you offer the exam in different languages?

Yes, we do offer the final exam in multiple languages including: English, Cantonese, Mandarin, French, Arabic, Punjabi, Spanish and Tagalog.

What happens if I don’t show up for my first aid or CPR course?

If you do not show up for your first aid and / or CPR course you will forfeit your payment. You will not be able to reschedule unless you pay the full fee.

Do I need to bring my certificate for recertification?

Yes, if you do not bring your old certificate to the class you won’t be able to take part in the re-certification course.

Can I take First Aid without learning CPR?

No, you can’t take a first aid course without learning CPR. CPR is a vital component of any first aid course.

Do I still have to give mouth to mouth in a CPR course?

No, you no longer have to give mouth to mouth on another person when learning to do CPR or artificial respiration in a first aid course. It’s been over 30 years since participants have had to do actual mouth to mouth in a CPR training course.

Do I need to bring anything with me the class?

Bring comfortable clothes and possibly some water.

Do we get breaks during the course?

Yes, you will receive multiple breaks during the first aid course with St Mark James Training
